The largest and most beautiful festival that the state capital Schwerin has ever seen: that is what the citizens’ festival for the Day of German Unity 2024 in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania should be – and it turned out to be a success. ‘Setting sail together’ was the motto that transformed the old town of Schwerin, home to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Schwerin Castle, into a huge party zone from 2 to 4 October 2024, with countless highlights from the worlds of culture, politics, cuisine and entertainment. We were chosen to provide event communications on behalf of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Chancellery and we played our part in the success of the event, working closely with the State Chancellery, event agency bergmanngruppe and other stakeholders of the festival. The preparations began about ten months before the event; on site, the eight-person redroses team was joined by external photo, film and content teams.
200,000 guests – twice as many as the state capital has inhabitants – visited the festival and enjoyed the numerous highlights on the festival mile and on the stages. The total media reach from March 2024 to the end of October 2024 was 4.5 billion.
