German Unity Day 2023 Hamburg

Event communication

On 2 and 3 October 2023, the citizens’ festival for German Unity Day took place in Hamburg. We were responsible for the entire communication for this major event, which, with its motto “Opening Horizons”, became a lively “Festival of Unity”. Hamburg Tourismus GmbH was the contracting authority, and coordination also took place with the Hamburg State Chancellery. Another key success factor was the great collaboration with the federal states and the many other stakeholders who helped bring the festival to life. Our trusted event partner: bergmanngruppe, whose team we worked closely with from the start of the planning. Preparations began about a year before the event; the redroses team comprised 10 members of staff plus external photo, film and content teams at the festival itself.

It was worth the effort: 700,000 guests attended the ‘Festival of Unity’ in Hamburg. Combined with the coverage of Hamburg’s presidency of the Bundesrat, the media reach between November 2022 and October 2023 amounted to over 7 billion.
